Resources

From helpful videos and presentations to printable brochures and commitment cards, this is where you'll find everything you need to make the biggest difference possible for the Colombia Building Fund. If there's a resource you need that isn't offered here, just give us a call at 417-597-4626 or send us an email and we'll do what we can to make it a reality.

There's also one resource we couldn't get onto the site: us. We would love to schedule a time to talk on the phone, through video, or even in-person. Get in touch with Jonathan Saliba to schedule a time to talk.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

  • Why would several churches meet in the same location?
200,000 people live within walking distance of the building we currently rent. If we were to start 3 churches of about 200 people each, we would have reached 0.3% of the people in our area. It would require 500 new churches to consider these neighborhoods reached! Here are a couple more reasons the churches would like to do this: 1. It drastically reduces rent. 2. Different churches meeting at different times reach different people. 3. Our churches already use the building only once per week and meet again in small home groups during the week.
  • Where will these churches come from?
We will start them, and we will teach others to start them. Our goals as missionaries are to make disciple-making disciples, plant church-planting churches, and start movement-starting movements. We've seen disciples made, we've seen churches planted, and now we believe we are seeing a movement started that will start church-planting movements across Colombia and across the world. Just speaking of the ministry in the north of Bogotá, one solid church has been established and a second will be starting in 2022. Based on how God is working lately in the leaders of the current church in the north, we're starting to suspect a third church will be started very shortly after that. We also already know who we would like to send to start another church-planting movement in Ibagué, Colombia in a few years.
  • How much do you need to raise?
We need to raise a minimum of $1,000,000. We want to make sure the building can accomodate about 200 people in a church service. The land alone for a building of that size should cost at least $500,000. We will likely demolish what small buildings are on the land and build a design from scratch.
  • How much should I give?
Our general suggestion would be to give big, relative to your ability. Anything you choose to give is very much appreciated. Be sure to check out the "How to Help" section for some creative giving ideas. Here are some numbers to help you understand what percentage of the total goal you might be giving: $100 = 0.01% $1,000 = 0.1% $5,000 = 0.5% $10,000 = 1% $20,000 = 2% $50,000 = 5%
  • Where does my money go when I donate?
We are accepting donations through the Baptist Bible Fellowship Mission Office for several reasons: 1. We are approved BBFI missionaries. 2. 100% of donations go directly to the Colombia Building Fund. The Mission Office does not take a percentage. 3. You can give through bank transfer without being charged a fee. 4. You can set up automatic monthly donations.
  • Do you have a specific lot picked out?
We have several lots in mind, but the place we would most like to build isn't for sale. Pray for God to open doors for us to be in a specific place that: Is close to multiple schools, including the shool we already work with. Is next to a very popular park in our area. Has ample street parking. Is on a major road. An ideal lot would be 9750 ft². That may not fit within our budget, but our plans allow us to work with as little as 2/3 of that space. Here's a picture of the area:
  • Do new churches start out in the building?
No, at least not in the main area. We hope new churches will first start as Bible studies in homes or in the community. This is a way that church-planters can get started without the need for any type of funding. We also hope for each building that we build to have a coffee shop and a large conference room. We want those spaces to be available to our regular church members for normal discipleship, but we also hope that churches can use the conference room as a temporary, free meeting place as they outgrow houses, but aren't ready to move into the larger auditorium.
  • What kinds of churches can use the building?
We reserve our buildings for use by church planters that come from our own churches. We are convinced that churches who share both a building and a reputation within the community should also share the same values, history, doctrine, beliefs, and even philosophy of ministry.
  • How long will it take to start these churches?
We already have a six-year-old church, and we’re ready to start a second one this year. Our goal is to start a new church every five years, but also for each church we start to start a church every five years. If that happens, in 2033 we will have started 8 churches. By 2038, there could be 16. Now, don't hold us to those dates, but we would definitely like to see it happen that way! Just remember, "A man's heart deviseth his way: but the LORD directeth his steps."
